California University of Pennsylvania graduates Shelby Alloway  ’21 and Jensen Silbaugh  ’20/’21 were recently voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.

With their selections, Alloway and Silbaugh are both now eligible for consideration on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams that will be announced next month. The Vulcans featured their first academic-all-district selection since 2016 and boasted multiple honorees for the first time since the 2012 campaign.

Alloway completed her bachelor’s degree in only three years, as she graduated in May with a 3.94 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) and a degree in health science with a minor in psychology. She led the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and ranked sixth in NCAA Division II with 0.53 service aces per set in 2019. Alloway totaled 56 services aces as a sophomore to finish No. 12 in the country and rank fifth in single-season school history. The Ohio native totaled over 100 career service aces while leading the team in the category in both 2018 and 2019.

A three-year libero, Silbaugh earned her master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in business analytics in May with a 3.91 GPA. She previously completed her bachelor’s degree in May 2020 with a 3.94 GPA while majoring in business administration and minors in accounting and finance. Silbaugh finished her career ranked fourth in school history with 1,534 digs, which are the most by a player since 2009. The Ohio product led the team in digs in three-consecutive years and ranked among the top 10 in the PSAC in digs as a sophomore and junior.

Alloway and Silbaugh will be not returning to the Vulcans to use seasons of remaining eligibility in 2021.

To qualify for the academic all-district honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.30 GPA or higher and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution. Nominees must also be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials, but career statistics were used for the selection of this year’s team due to the majority of teams not playing in the fall of 2020. The district consists of all schools in the PSAC, Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) and Mountain East Conference (MEC).
