This Week’s Album Review
Phantoms-Mariana’s Trench
Mariana’s Trench recently released their fifth album, Phantoms, after a four year break. The album is generally good, but does not quite live up to some of their previous work. While both of their most recent albums are produced to the highest scale, with over-arching motifs, this album is written more similarly to most of today’s music. The production value is scaled down and there is no story told through the course of the album like with their previous work. That being said, most of the songs are well-written and fun, and it is still on the higher end of modern pop music. While it may be something a little bit off from the norm, Phantoms is worth a chance.
