Technology is ubiquitous in today’s society, and there will always be new advances within the technological world. Apple is one of the most popular brands in the country. A majority of people who own an Apple iPhone stick with other Apple products as well. This may be the reason why the Apple Airpods have become one of the most popular bluetooth headphones on the market. These wireless headphones were released in September of 2016, but the product didn’t blow up until the fall of 2018.

A representative from TF International Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo, has been studying the expected outcome for the Apple Airpods market. Kuo’s findings were that the Airpods are currently the fastest growing product out of every other Apple product. In addition to that, the Airpods are predicted to reach sales of up to 50 to 55 million in the next year. Although Apple does not release their sale results, Kuo’s predictions look very promising within the next year.

Although Airpods are somewhat costly, they are definitely worth the purchase. For example, the headphones are extremely convenient to use. Because of the wireless feature, there is no longer the annoyance of untangling headphones before use. Personally, the wireless aspect of the headphones is a major benefit because it is super easy to use at the gym. If I want to run on the treadmill, I don’t have to worry about the cords of my headphones getting in the way. The wireless feature is also beneficial because you can walk at least 30 feet away from your phone without losing connection to the Airpods.

Another benefit to the Airpods is being able to use Siri through the headphones. By tapping twice on one of the Airpods, the Siri feature transpires and allows for the user to say what they would like to do. For instance, the user can tell Siri to skip a song if they aren’t able to access their phone right away. The Airpods also contain a voice accelerometer which realizes when the user is speaking. There are beamforming speakers which help to block out background noise to focus on the user’s voice. This makes it easy to talk to Siri without having other noise affect the user. The user can also change their settings to have the option to change the song or play/pause.

One extremely technologically advanced feature of the Airpods are the optical and motion sensors. These sensors work with the W1 chip which is inside the Airpods to decipher when the Airpods are in your ears. Once the Airpods are placed in one’s ears, the music begins to play. This is extremely convenient because it will connect to your phone and your playlists right away, so you don’t have to spend time putting on a song. Another interesting aspect of the sensors is when one Airpod is removed from the ear, the music stops playing. After the Airpod is placed back into the ear, the music plays again. This is beneficial if the user needs to quickly do something or listen to someone without their music playing.

Lastly, the Airpods contain an extraordinary battery life which enhances the overall experience. It’s easy to forget to charge the wireless headphones; however, the Airpods can hold up to 24 hours of battery life with the charging case. Also, Airpods can last up to five hours on one simple charge. This is extremely convenient being a college student because I use my Airpods as I walk from class to class. I don’t have much time to charge them throughout the day. Although, if my Airpods are dead, I can charge them for only 15 minutes and receive three hours of battery life. The battery life on the Airpods is an efficient, convenient feature of the headphones.

So – what’s next for Apple Inc.? There are rumors of Apple Airpods 2 releasing in the near future. This version of the Airpods is said to include wireless charging, a noise-cancellation feature and even a waterproof feature. Although these are just rumors, these trendy headphones are expected to create immense sales for Apple and are definitely worth the purchase.
