If you walked past Natali this week and the A.E.P. club presenting their acoustic music set, it may have sparked your interest. It got me thinking so I did some research and found out this is not the first time something like that has happened on campus.
Every spring, starting in 1983, California University of Pennsylvania would have a spring event to celebrate jazz in a music festival each spring. For a few days, student musicians and community members played for the students at Cal U. This experience was an idea the university had to get people out of the finals funk and continue to educate the students on the importance of music like jazz. It was run by the student association, music department, and the entertainment arts committee. Not only was this important to the students musicians were seen as artists. Showcasing Byron Quam, Bob Matrozza, and Kenny Blake was a great way to help students and drive retention.
