Not only are there classes held in Hamer Hall, but there are also weight, training, and dance rooms, along with the pool and the old arena.
Not only are there important training areas but there are also the main athletic offices located on the second floor of Hamer. This building is where most of the Sports Management classes are located, along with their offices.
Before the beautiful Convocation Center was built, they used to have basketball games, Commencement, and swim meets in Hamer Hall. Even though they still swim meets in the six-lane, 25-yard Hamer pool, they discontinued having basketball games and winter and spring Commencement Ceremonies in Hamer, which houses 3,500 seats. The University started housing these events in Hamer Hall in 1965 and used the building for over 45 years, ending when the Convocation Center was built. Now all the basketball games are held in the Convocation Center with 6,000 seats.
In 2011, the basketball team had a sendoff to their home court called ‘Hail to Hamer’, giving the old arena its one last deserved hooray.
