At PennWest California, technology plays a crucial role in supporting students, faculty, and staff in their day-to-day academic and administrative tasks.
Zach Hixenbaugh, a Technology Analyst at UTECH, has been with the team for over two years. His role involves answering calls, troubleshooting tech problems, and providing assistance to the entire campus community.
“Our biggest mission is to get students the help they need with their technology,” says Zach. “You can come to us with basically any question you can think of, and if we don’t know the answer, we know someone who does.”
Previously, UTECH was located in a less centralized area, but moving to the new location puts the team at the heart of campus.
“This is where all of the dining facilities are, and everyone is so familiar with where Natali is. It’s literally the biggest building on campus, so it’s hard to miss,” Zach explains. “It’s much more accessible for both students and staff.”
In celebration of the move, UTECH and the IT department hosted a ribbon-cutting event to mark the opening of their new space for students at PennWest California. The event was well attended by students and staff, all eager to see the new location and learn more about the services available.
“It’s a lot nicer, and we’re more centralized with our student workers,” says Zach. “It’s very easy for someone to walk in and get the help they need quickly.”
Student work-studies at UTECH also expressed their excitement about the new location. “We love the new space,” said one of the student workers.
“It’s so much closer to the Gold Rush cafeteria and more students, making it a lot easier for us to help people. It’s also great to be in a more visible and accessible spot on campus.”
The team at UTECH is excited about the new space, which not only offers improved accessibility but also allows for better collaboration. The location makes it easier for students, faculty, and staff to get the support they need, whether it’s setting up software, fixing hardware, or simply answering a question.
“We’re here to make sure technology isn’t a barrier to your success,” Zach adds.
If you’re having tech issues or just have a question, don’t hesitate to stop by UTECH’s new location in Room 143, down the hall past Chick-fil-A, the CUTV Media Suite, and PSECU Student Banking, in the Natali Student Center. The friendly team is there to help you navigate your technology needs and ensure you’re set up for success.
