On Wednesday, Oct. 17, PennWest California held its annual Homecoming week drag show in the Natali Performance Center, hosted by PennWest California’s very own SAB, the Underground, and Rainbow Alliance. Before the performance began, Rainbow Alliance President Bekah Schrack remarked that the audience was one of the biggest she had seen.  With this incredible turnout, this event included unforgettable performances from drag performers Calipso, Joey Young, Max Starvania, Indi Skies, and Luna Skye. The cast is from Pittsburgh’s largest drag production, S&S Productions, all of whom are familiar faces to PennWest California’s campus.

In addition to putting on an exciting performance, the show also provided a deep commentary. The cast’s newest addition Joey Young applauded the large audience of students in their decision to pursue secondary education. She then goes on to encourage them to vote in the upcoming presidential election, underlining the crucial effects that it can have for drag, the queer community, and women.
